Reaction of benzoylpyruvate with a mixture of aromatic aldehydes and 5-amino-1,3,4-thiadizole-2-thiol

Reactions of benzoylpyruvate with a mixture of aromatic aldehydes and 5-amino-1,3,4-thiadizole-2-thiol in a 1:1:1 molar ratio, afforded 5-(5-aryl-4-benzoyl-3-hydroxy-2-oxo-2,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrol-1-yl)-1,3,4-thiadizole-2-thiols (3a-c). The structure of the resulted products was confirmed by determination of the melting point and spectrophotometric techniques such as IR and 1H-NMR spectroscopy.

Reaction of benzoxasilocines with aromatic aldehydes: Synthesis of homopterocarpans

Condensation of 2H-benzo[g][1,2]oxasilocines with aromatic aldehydes in the presence of boron trifluoride affords mixtures of cis/trans 2-phenyl-3-vinylchromans with moderate yields. These can be transformed into homopterocarpans, a synthetic group of substances homologous to the natural isoflavonoid pterocarpans.

Reaction of selected carbohydrate aldehydes with benzylmagnesium halides: benzyl versus o-tolyl rearrangement

The Grignard reaction of 2,3-O-isopropylidene-α-D-lyxo-pentodialdo-1,4-furanoside and benzylmagnesium chloride (or bromide) afforded a non-separable mixture of diastereomeric benzyl carbinols and diastereomeric o-tolyl carbinols. BiCl3 catalyzed reaction of aromatic aldehydes with 5,5-dimethyl-1, 3-cyclohexandione in ionic liquids

The reaction of aromatic aldehydes 1 with 5, 5-dimethyl-1, 3-cyclohexandione 2 was investigated in this paper by using [bmim][BF4] as the reaction medium. It was found that when the reaction was carried out in the presence of catalytic amount of BiCl3, xanthenediones 3 was obtained in high yields.
